Post 441: Mixed Media Layout- Enjoy Today

Hi friends!

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Layout- "Enjoy Today". This was part of my DT work for Crafters Corner. All the details, including a pictorial, are HERE. The inspiration for the layout came from a photo of coffee, I simply love coffee, so I knew I had to create a layout around it. For me, coffee time is "me" time. I can sit, relax, be quiet for 5 minutes, sip my beverage, think & forget about other things. I wanted to remind myself that it is important to delight in the little things in life that give us joy & enjoy them today, to "live in the moment".

Here's a photo of the layout:

Post 440: Cute Mixed Media Layout- Memories

Hi friends!

I'd like to share a Cute Mixed Media Layout- "Memories". This was part of my DT work for Bob n Betty. I used their adorable Little Wonderland Collection. All the details are HERE.

Here's a photo of the layout:

Here are some close-up photos:

Process:

1. One of the papers from the Little Wonderland Collection was taken as the base. It was torn a little from all 4 sides, distressed and darkened with grey ink. Then this was adhered to a 12 by 12 size sheet of heavy white card stock. Stitch stamping was done in the gaps created to give a textured look and add interest to the page.
2. Clear gesso was applied on the scrapbook paper to prep it for mixed media work. Then light paste was added through a stencil in different areas of the page, to prepare the background and add texture.
3. To add color to the page, light colors of Lindy's sprays (Azure Sea Asters Shimmer Sprays & Bling-y Blonde Shimmer Spray) were added, movement was created with drips.
4. Background stamping was done with grey archival inks.
5. Photo mats and frames were created with die cuts of papers from the Little Wonderland Collection and white card stock.
6. Few elements were fussy cut from the Little Wonderland Collection
7. All the elements for layering were gathered and adhered to the page in a visually pleasing composition. Elements included fussy cut images, sentiments, twines, thread & flowers. To add dimension, some of the elements were adhered with 3d foam tape.
8. The project was embellished with few buttons & to add additional texture and shine, a mixture of mini & regular art stones, silver sequins & soft matte gel was applied to various places on the page.
9. In the end, some heavy white gesso was applied to the elements using the dry brushing technique and a few ink splatters were created.

I am playing along with the following challenges:

1. More Than Words Main Challenge for May- used multiple die cut paper frames around the photo and the panda, also used the word "memories"

2. Lindys May Challenge- used 2 colors in the same family as this month's palette, (Azure Sea Asters Shimmer Sprays & Bling-y Blonde Shimmer Spray)

Thanks a lot for your precious time :)
Stay Blessed!

Post 434: Vintage Mixed Media Canvas- Imagine

Hi friends!!

I've created a Vintage Mixed Media Canvas- "Imagine". This is the project I made for inspiration while Guest Designing at the Art Playground Blog's May Play. "Imagine", "Discover" & "Live, Create, Tell the Story" are the sentiments I wanted to convey to motivate myself and others.

Here are some photos of the canvas:

Process:

1. Prepared the 6 by 8 canvas board with Prima's Heavy White Gesso
2. Applied Modelling Paste through Mudra Stamps Grunge Fx Stencil
3. Added Lindys Midnight Bronze Embossing Powder to the wet Modelling Paste and heat set it to get a bubbly textured look.
4. Added colors using Lindy's Sprays & Shakers.
5. Did background stamping with Archival Ink, Visible Image, Hero Arts, Prima & Dylusions Stamps
6. For the focal element used one of the Tim Holtz Paper Dolls.
7. Created the main composition and did layering using multiple elements including stamped wings, gauze, Creative Embellishment Mini Gear Wood Clocks, metal charms, wooden alphas & numbers, sisal & washi tape.
8. Added brads and black thread to create movement in the piece.
9. For the sentiments, used a few Tim Holtz Ideaology stickers.
10. Dry brushed on white gesso on the textured surface for some highlights
11. Created ink splatter and highlighted some of the elements with Finnabair waxes.
12. In the end, added a few details with a white gel pen & black marker & also, darkened the edges of the canvas with distress inks.

I am linking this to the following challenges:

Creative Embellishments May Challenge- I was inspired by the vintage photo and brown colors in the mood board. For the twist, I've included a Vintage Paper Doll by TH. I've used Creative Embellishment's Mini Gear Wood Clocks here behind the boy's photo.

Mixed Media Art April Challenge (I was inspired by the colors, rust and book pages)

Mixed Media Place April Challenge (was inspired by the brown colors, birds and motivational quote in the moodboard)

Thanks a lot for your precious time :)
